Working with clay is pretty profound. Yeah, it may just look like a cup, a bowl, a little mundane everyday object, but when you are involved with their making you see how their production unites the powerful elements that underpin life (fire, earth, air, water). Functional-handmade-ceramics are symbols of care, of nourishment and conversation and are thus practical and spiritual at the same time. I took lessons at Maze Hill with Darren Ellis and Francis Lloyd, and from there glaze chemistry lessons with Ceramics Materials Workshop. I now teach privately from my own studio and at Turning Earth.
